One of the companies spearheading the revolution in housing and commercial construction development in Nigeria is H.F.P. Engineering (Nig.) Ltd, an international development company focused on making a real difference to Nigeria, and now celebrating 30 years of unprecedented achievement in the Nigerian construction and civil engineering industry. HFP is the construction subsidiary of Globe Investments House S.A. and was established by three Israeli partners in 1979. It began as a finance development company that built and leased properties in various parts of Lagos.
Since 1979, H.F.P. has raised public awareness and expectations of Western-style living conditions, and has translated these hopes into action. HFP has set new standards in quality construction, estate and market development as well as the manufacture of concrete construction materials.

The quality of housing in Lagos was generally poor, with a lack of basic infrastructure such as water, electricity and good sewage facilities. Most of the housing units were in a state of disrepair, with an occupancy rate of 4-5 persons per habitable room. In some cases, a whole household of 10-12 persons lived in a single room. The Government and the private sector had to solve these problems and bridge the gap between housing demand and supply.

The deficiency in quality housing is compounded by the fact that Lagos also serves as the business center for the majority of local companies. Consequently, there has been significant demand for residential and commercial construction throughout the years. Until the early 1960's, offices and shops in Lagos were rather old-fashioned. Today, a substantial number of modern, high-rise office blocks have gradually replaced the older buildings. H.F.P. helped many investors and businesses achieve their goals of building their own homes or developing modern office blocks.
